The ideal partner for individual storage and materials handling solutions

Joint logistics centre for three retailers

The new distribution centre for the Libro, Pagro and eplus retail chains south of Vienna will have a capacity of 17,000 pallet storage locations on a warehouse area of roughly 23,000 m².

Kardex Mlog supplies storage and retrieval machines plus conveyor system

In the Austrian town of Müllendorf, MTH Logistik GmbH is currently constructing the new distribution centre for the Libro, Pagro and eplus retail chains. The storage and retrieval machines, conveyor system and control engineering are supplied by Kardex Mlog.

In future, dispatch and transport for the three Austrian retail chains Libro, Pagro and eplus will be handled through the new logistics centre south of Vienna. It has a capacity of 17,000 pallet storage locations on a warehouse area of roughly 23,000 m2.

Kardex Mlog is installing a total of 13 storage and retrieval machines (SRM) from its in-house manufacturing facility. Each MTwin machines offer a capacity of 31 double cycles or approximately 49 single cycles per hour. All storage and retrieval machines have been designed for the fully automatic storage and retrieval of Euro pallets and are fitted out for direct order picking with order picking cabs.

In the materials handling area, Kardex Mlog is constructing the entire pallet and container conveyor system over two levels. On the ground floor the equipment connects goods inwards with the despatch department, while the upper floor is reserved for the replenishment lines for two cross-belt sorters arranged one above the other.

Kardex Mlog is implementing its in-house Kardex Mlog Control Center (MCC) for the control and visualisation of the flow of goods. The storage and retrieval machines and pallet conveyor system are operated via programmable logic controllers (PLCs).  Communication with the container conveying system and the sorter is also via PLCs with the aid of a coding computer. Also included in the scope of supply is the integration of the warehouse management system with a connection to an ORACLE-based ERP system.

All components of the hardware and software are produced in-house in Neuenstadt am Kocher. The handover of the new high-bay warehouse is planned for September 2011.
