Neuenstadt/Pfaffenhofen – M+W Process Industries GmbH is extending the existing high-bay warehouse of the pharmaceutical company Daiichi Sankyo by two aisles at its Pfaffenhofen site. Kardex Mlog is supplying the new storage and retrieval machines plus conveyor system. During the project the existing conveying equipment will be replaced or extended by Kardex Mlog products. The order for Kardex Mlog is about EUR 750,000.
At Pfaffenhofen, which is located 60 km north of Munich, Daiichi Sankyo produces pharmaceutical products and drugs as well as clinical samples. Following the extension of the existing warehouse, more than 40 million packets and four billion tablets will be produced here annually.
Kardex Mlog is installing two B-type MSingle storage and retrieval machines (SRM) including S7 control technology and aisle equipment in the new building. The single-column SRMs with a height of 27 metres, each have single-deep telescopic forks for load handling.
In parallel, other areasof the existing plant are also being modernised. Kardex Mlog is replacing the entire existing conveyor system in the high-bay warehouse with its own technology and is extending the goods outwards areas by an additional staging area. Components such as the profile checking system will be adapted to the new conditions. All the new components will be integrated into the existing visual display system.
At the implementation stage, Kardex Mlog can call upon experience from numerous projects in the pharmaceutical industry, but is also familiar with carrying out refurbishment during ongoing operations.
As a result the duration of the project will be short: delivery and installation of the components will take place in August 2011 and official acceptance is planned for October 2011. The entire replacement of the conveyor system will take place outside working hours to ensure the operations are not disrupted or impacted.
