In the banking sector, high availability and data security are extremely important. Since these can no longer be provided because the manufacturer offers only limited services, the ageing transport and storage complex of the Russian financial institution is to be thoroughly modernised.
In the course of the contract Kardex Mlog will bring the system’s software and hardware up-to-date. The scope of supply includes in particular the conversion of the controllers in the area of the conveyor system and storage and retrieval machines (SRM) from the S5 to the current S7 standard. With respect to the SRMs, in addition to the controllers the positioning systems will also be refurbished and new control cabinets with frequency converters will be installed.
In addition, the visualisation system has been updated. All systems are subject to the high-level security and data protection standards that are required for the banking sector.
The project in St. Petersburg began in September 2010 and completion of the new transport and storage complex is planned for August 2011. The hardware was delivered at the end of 2010. The building work will be carried out in stages from January 2011 to June 2011. The general contractor for the project is the company’s long-term cooperation partner Ferrostaal AG, Essen.
