HARMAN Advances Warehouse Automation with New AutoStore System at Its Pécs Facility

2 November 2026, News,Company News

HARMAN, a global leader in connected technologies for automotive, consumer, and enterprise markets, is further advancing its warehouse automation journey with the implementation of a new AutoStore system supplied by Kardex.

The project marks another important milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies. It will significantly increase storage capacity at HARMAN’s Pécs facility while creating a more seamless connection between warehouse operations and production.

Building on a Strong Partnership

HARMAN’s facility in Pécs has been a Kardex Remstar customer for many years, successfully operating several Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) as part of its intralogistics infrastructure.

As production requirements continued to grow, HARMAN identified the need to expand storage capacity while creating a more efficient connection between warehouse operations and the production environment. Thanks to the well-established relationship with Kardex and the close cooperation with the local team from the very beginning of the project, the company involved Kardex in the planning phase from day one.

"Seeing our customer's journey over the years has been incredibly rewarding. I'm grateful to work for a company that has been a trusted partner throughout that journey, helping solve new challenges and growing together every step of the way"

The Solution

Kardex designed an AutoStore solution tailored to HARMAN’s operational requirements, providing a compact, scalable storage system capable of supporting both current and future production demands.

The system will manage approximately 3,000 SKUs and includes:

  • 13 AutoStore robots
  • 22,500 bins (Type 220)
  • 3 Carousel Ports
  • 2 Conveyor Ports
  • Full SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) integration

The new solution will provide significantly higher storage density while ensuring fast and reliable access to components required for production.

Seamless Integration into Daily Operations

One of the key aspects of the project is that the AutoStore system is being implemented within an existing warehouse while daily operations continue uninterrupted.

Executing the installation in an active production environment requires careful planning, close coordination, and continuous collaboration between HARMAN and Kardex to ensure safety, maintain productivity, and minimize operational impact throughout the implementation process.

Driving the Future of Warehouse Automation

While increased storage capacity was one of the main drivers behind HARMAN’s investment, the project goes beyond simply adding more warehouse space.

By integrating automated warehouse operations with HARMAN’s broader systems and production environment, HARMAN is creating a more efficient and future-ready logistics platform. The solution will deliver:

  • Increased storage capacity within the existing facility
  • Improved material flow between warehouse and production
  • Faster and more efficient inventory handling
  • Enhanced operational efficiency through automation
  • A scalable foundation for future growth

Global Partnership

A particularly significant outcome of the project is HARMAN’s decision to select Kardex as its global automation partner for warehouse projects across multiple countries.

This decision reflects the confidence built through years of successful collaboration and demonstrates Kardex’s ability to deliver standardized, high-performance automation solutions that support HARMAN’s global logistics strategy.

As the project moves toward go-live, the new AutoStore installation in Pécs will represent another important step in HARMAN’s worldwide warehouse transformation journey.
