Kardex Mlog: 22 New Stacker Cranes for Tchibo
3 September 2025, News,Company News
Kardex Mlog is set to replace 22 stacker cranes at the high-bay warehouse in Tchibo’s logistics center in Neustädter Hafen, Bremen. The project, which commenced in May 2025, will be completed in eleven steps by November 2026. The new stacker cranes will be introduced to the warehouse via small openings in the roof of the building, using an 800-metric-ton crane due to the extreme overhang. The first old stacker crane, including conductor lines and rails, was replaced in May with a new machine of the type Kardex MSingle B-1200/41-ZT. Ten further stacker cranes will be installed by the end of this year.
The overall service package offered by Kardex’s New Business Refurbishment was key to persuading Tchibo to opt for Kardex. “With Kardex Mlog, we were happy with the technology and the price, but in addition to that, we were very impressed by the consulting service and the meticulous planning. The decisive factors were their high level of experience with similar major projects and an extremely positive visit to a reference plant,” says Alexander Ralfs, Director Supply Chain Management & Logistics at Tchibo GmbH.
Following the replacement of the 22-year-old, 45-meter-high stacker cranes in Blocks 1 and 2 of the high‑bay warehouse, the logistics center in Bremen will be highly efficient and fit for the future. As part of the project, Kardex Mlog will install an additional operation option at the aisle’s rear access and integrate fire extinguishing systems into the 22 control boxes of the stacker cranes as well as into a stationary control box. The scope of supply for the Kardex Mlog project includes, in addition to the hardware, the interface to the existing material flow system and a service package with preventive maintenance, a hotline, and customized spare parts stocking.
