NÖM AG, located in Baden near Vienna, offers a product range of approximately 1,000 items, supplying customers throughout Europe. Its main sales regions are Eastern Austria and Northern Italy. With the current shipping volume averaging 2,200 pallets per day, the company’s logistics have reached their performance limit. In building the new shipping facility, NÖM is reacting to the dynamically growing order volume and increased requirements regarding speed and precision in the supply chain.

The project includes the construction of a new logistics center at the Baden site, featuring a fully automated shipping plant with conveying technology. An electric monorail will connect to the goods issue area. The plant is to be controlled and organized by the company’s material flow and warehouse management system, SAP EWM. “The new construction does not mean additional sealing of soil as we are making use of an existing space, and with the direct connection of the new storage facility, we will save more than 10,000 truck journeys annually,” points out Josef Simon, Director of Production and Technology at NÖM AG, who is responsible for the construction project.

“A key factor in Kardex Mlog’s favor was the numerous references from similar projects, also in the dairy industry. In addition, we were very impressed by the partnership-based approach of Kardex Mlog and the subcontractors, who all demonstrated a keen interest in the project,” says Christoph Posawetz, Head of Logistics at NÖM AG.

NÖM AG is one of the leading companies in the Austrian dairy industry. With more than 125 years of experience in dairy processing, NÖM produces a wide range of dairy products, including milk, yogurt, butter, curd cheeses, and drinks. Each year, the company processes around 450 million kilograms of milk originating from more than 2,200 farmers in the region. Approximately 1,000 employees in Austria generated sales revenues of 685 million euros in 2024. In its production, the company relies on state-of-the-art technology and continuously invests in research and development to ensure the highest quality and sustainability. NÖM is a key employer and partner for the agricultural sector in the region, and it is also committed to participating in social and ecological projects.
