WEG Improves Warehouse Performance at U.S. Headquarters with Kardex AutoStore™ Automation
31 March 2026, News,Company News
WEG Electric Corp., a global manufacturer of industrial electrical technologies, has implemented an AutoStore™ goods-to-person automation system supported by Kardex at its U.S. headquarters in Duluth, Georgia. The project enables WEG to manage growing small-parts inventory more efficiently while improving warehouse performance within its existing facility. As demand for WEG’s products expanded across North America, the Duluth headquarters warehouse experienced increasing pressure on space utilization, inventory accuracy, and order fulfillment performance. Rather than expanding the building footprint, WEG sought a solution that could increase storage density and streamline small parts handling while maintaining operational flexibility.

To address these challenges, WEG partnered with Kardex to deploy an AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system integrated with Kardex FulfillX warehouse execution software. The solution consolidates small-parts inventory into a high-density grid where autonomous robots retrieve bins and deliver them directly to operators at workstations, significantly reducing travel time and improving picking efficiency.
By centralizing small-parts storage and automating retrieval, the system has helped WEG double small-parts picking speed, improve inventory visibility, and free warehouse space for palletized inventory and other materials. The goods-to-person workflow has also enabled the warehouse team to redeploy employees from manual picking tasks to higher-value operational roles. The system’s modular architecture provides WEG with a scalable platform that can adapt as business needs evolve. Additional robots, ports, or grid capacity can be added in the future to support continued growth without requiring major changes to the facility.

The AutoStore installation now serves as a key component of WEG’s distribution operations at its Duluth headquarters, helping the company support increasing order volumes while maintaining reliable service for customers across the United States.
